Let me know if there’s anything else I could add or do that will help. My guess is that it’s from the 70s-80s but I don’t trust myself on this.Īny help would be appreciated. In 1948-1950 Silver Tone was changed to Silversonic. White.' In 1918 the company was incorporated and 'Co' was added to the engraving., In 1926-1928 the Sterling Silver bells first used. Before 1918 the engraving read simply as 'H. It also comes with the original King vintage counterweight. Early instruments have a lion's head near the serial numbers and marked The King. Laqer is still pretty yellow.Īnother side note is it plays really sharp like one of those Jiggs Whigham trombones with the shortened tuning slides. The serial number reads 449178 making it a vintage late 1960s horn. The 3B was a model 2103 which was weird because we all knew it as the 3B so they have finally corrected this and the 3B is once again officially, the 3B 2B. According to this website: it would date it really early in the 20th century and that’s obviously way off. For years, King used part numbers for their model number but players still referred to them by their traditional names. Serial number is 10146 and I looked up the serial numbers for king but it doesn’t add up to me. Maybe they don't all have engraving on the bell, I don't know. It has yellow laqer, nickel slide (wth yellow brass crook) and has no special engraving on the bell other than the king logo so it seems kind of bootlegged to me. The horn is 2b-like although I can’t comfirm the bore size. It’s probably a 2b but I know there are many versions. I’m asking for a friend and he doesn’t really know much about it and I’m not an equipment buff myself. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help identify this trombone.
